FRI 21OCT22 Trieste (Venice), Italy
Today we arrive around 2:00 p.m. and we will spend the night here. So, I will tell you about two different excursions. The first is a "Panoramic Slovenian Coast & Farmers' Market."
The drive takes us along the very short coastline that is Slovenia's toehold on the Adriatic.
Our guide introduced us to the history and political significance of the region.
We went to the town of Piran. Piran is almost a living museum, as it reflects its Venetian past in its appealing intact architecture.
Further south, we pass the seaside resort of Portorž -- the Port of Roses.
Turning inland, we go to a traditional village, called Padna, take advantage of some free time at the local farmers' market to browse among the stalls and sample local delicacies. This village boasts an amazing panoramic view over the Slovenian coast.
Day 2 : Venice
Travel from Trieste to Tronchetto, Venice. Here, you will board a privately-chartered boat to reach the heart of Venice. Meet your local guide and set out to discover the magnificent architectural treasures of this legendary city.
You will visit the Doges' Palace -- a symbol of the republic and a stunning example of fine Venetian-Gothic architecture. Cross the Bridge of Sighs and enter the prestigious palace whose sumptuous rooms contrast sharply with the damp prison cells on the other side of the bridge.
We had some free time for an aperol Spritz before getting on the boat to go back to the bus to go back to the ship.
