FRI 14OCT22 Kusadasi (Ephesus), Turkey 7:00am 6:00pm
Today our excursion takes us on a motor coach ride north from Kusadasi, past the Byzantine fortress in Selcuk, the ruins of the Temple of Artemis and the Basilica of St John. We're headed to the ancient city of Ephesus -- once the Roman provincial capital.
We followed our guide on a walk through the ruins, as he highlighted the archeological treasures of this great city, considered to be one of Turkey's finest outdoor museums.
We walked among the remains of the beautifully preserved Temple of Hadrian, the magnificent Trajan Fountain, the Odeon Theater, the majestic Celsus Library and the Great Theater -- one of the few structures still in use today.
We return to the port via a leather factory where they gave us a fashion show and the opportunity to buy some of their leather goods. Back at the boat lunch and a nap on the balcony.
