Abandoned Idea.

I made this to look like a minature urn. But the more I worked on it the ugglier it got. I guess you just need to know when enough is enough.

Another Glazing Night

Image
LAst night, I applied a clear glaze to the 3 pots and lids that I did near the beginning of this sessions.  as you may recall I got this idea from creative pottery. Now, we will see if they turn out anything like the picture. Then I tried a couple of new glazing techniques. The first was to apply wax resist to the cylinder before I dipped it in a white glaze. The second was to apply wax resist to a pot that was predipped in a white glaze and dipped again in a contracting glaze. Let's see how they turn out. Finally, I have a couple of bowls that did not get bisque fired in this round.  So, I'll have to wait on them.

Bye Bye Etsy

Image
I closed shop, today. I just did not seem to get any traction or even views from Etsy.  So rather than spend any more time trying to manage two shops I am going to concentrate on the Amazon Handmade.  BTW, I've only sold one item on Amazon, so far.

First Sale on Amazon Handmade

Image
Today marks the first sale of anything that I have created in pottery class.  It was one of the blue passive phone speakers. Here's what I have learned from that experience... Amazon makes it very easy with an e-mail notification that you have made the sale and a step by step process to finish the sale. Directions for packaging, invoice and shipping. I also learned that I grossly underestimated the shipping costs and so I just broke even on the deal.  The listing was $3.50 the postage $10.00 and the sale $15.00.  Oh well, I can say that I sold something on Amazon.   Last Wednesday night, I picked up a couple of items that had been fired. One was this small blue pot, perfect for a succulent. I also picked up the lid for a bowl that I did much earlier that I affectionately call the Acorn bowl.
